From heart-fluttering romances to spine-tingling thrillers, the streaming world is rolling out the rainbow carpet. Here’s your guide to the most anticipated LGBTQIA+ films and TV shows coming to your screens this May.
1. Big Mouth: Season 8
Get ready to clutch your pearls and fan yourself, because “Big Mouth” is back for its eighth and final season, premiering May 23 on Netflix. This animated coming-of-age comedy has never shied away from the messy, hilarious, and heartfelt aspects of adolescence, and its farewell season promises to be an epic send-off. “Big Mouth” has always been loud and proud when it comes to queer rep. Matthew MacDell stays serving sassy one-liners, while Jay and Jessi explore their bi vibes in a way that feels real and funny.
2. “Bet”
“Bet” is set in an elite boarding school, but there is nothing demure about it. The show introduces us to Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student with a penchant for high-stakes games and a thirst for shaking up the status quo. But honey, this isn’t just about cards and chips — it’s a full house of drama, secrets, and queer messiness. “Bet” is available for streaming on Netflix beginning May 15.
Hulu
1. “Nine Perfect Strangers”
“Nine Perfect Strangers” returns May 21 on Hulu and wastes no time turning up the drama like a drag brunch with no mimosas cut off. This season swaps California sun for a snow-drenched chalet in the Austrian Alps, where Nicole Kidman’s Masha struts back in with a new bob and questionable intentions. The new retreat brings a fresh batch of guests — including several queer characters —who find themselves tangled in Masha’s mental madness.
2. “Adults”
FX premieres “Adults” with a double-episode debut on May 28, and drops the full eight-episode season on Hulu the next day. For those who love the slow burn, FX will release two new episodes every Wednesday. Adults follows a chaotic crew of twenty-something housemates who serve codependency, confusion, and queer drama in equal measure. Imagine Friends got a glow-up with big Broad City energy — minus the filters, plus way more emotional baggage.

1. “Poker Face”
Natasha Lyonne returns in this mystery-of-the-week series, with queer characters and guest stars galore. Season 2 doesn’t shy away from queer representation. Notably, Cynthia Erivo stuns in the premiere episode, portraying five distinct sisters. The season also features appearances by queer icons like Giancarlo Esposito and Katie Holmes.
2. “A Nice Indian Boy”
This charming rom-com tells the story of a gay Indian-American man navigating love and family expectations. With a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s a must-watch for anyone craving a heartfelt laugh and a tear or two. The film began streaming on Amazon Prime in May.

1. “And Just Like That…”
“And Just Like That…” struts back onto Max with Season 3 premiering May 29. Miranda Hobbes, our fave fiery redhead, is living her best queer life after Che and might be getting cozy with a new “work contact” who’s giving more than just office vibes. Meanwhile, Carrie Bradshaw dives back into single life as Aidan hits pause, telling her to wait five years before they can finally be together.
