Fans of Jojo Siwa are a bit confused about her sexuality after the television personality suggested that she no longer identifies as “gay.” Jojo initially came out as gay, but later explained that she is unsure how to define her sexuality.
“I still don’t know what I am. It’s like, I want to figure it out. And I have this joke. Her name is Kylie. And so I say that I’m Ky-sexual,” Siwa told People magazine in 2021. “But like, I don’t know, bisexual, pansexual, queer, lesbian, gay, straight. I always just say gay because it just kind of covers it or queer because I think the keyword is cool.”
At the time, Siwa was in a relationship with Kylie Pew, while leaning into her lesbian identity. However, recent events have altered Siwa’s perspective, and she has seemingly shifted her sexual orientation. Here is what Siwa had to say about her sexual orientation in 2025.

Siwa’s stint on “Celebrity Big Brother UK” was anything but quiet. From confronting homophobia to sparking rumors of a new romance, the pop star found herself at the center of a reality TV storm that spilled far beyond the house. It all started when Siwa and fellow housemate Chris Hughes grew close after confronting homophobic remarks from actor Mickey Rourke.
Rourke was eventually ejected for his behavior, but the incident brought Siwa and Hughes together in a way viewers didn’t expect. Siwa later clarified that their connection was platonic but deep, calling Hughes her close friend and denying any romantic involvement. Still, the chemistry was undeniable, and the internet couldn’t stop talking about it.
While competing on the famed reality series, Siwa made a shocking confession about her sexuality. She revealed that she no longer identifies as a lesbian. “I feel, like, so queer, do you know what I mean,” Siwa said during a conversation with co-star Danny Beard. “I think that’s the thing. I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, and I think being here I’ve realized: ‘Oh, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer.’ And I think that’s really cool.”

Siwa’s now-ex-girlfriend, Kath Ebbs, was not entertained by the star’s revelations on “Celebrity Big Brother UK,” and they made no secret of it. The non-binary Australian influencer had been dating Siwa since January, and their relationship seemed solid — until it wasn’t. According to Ebbs, Siwa ended things at the “Big Brother” wrap party, blindsiding them after weeks of affectionate messages. Ebbs later took to social media, expressing feelings of humiliation and accusing JoJo of emotional cheating.
“I flew across the world to support and be there and hold that person in whatever they would be experiencing, leaving such a wild experience,” Ebbs said. “Instead, I was dumped at the after-party, with Chris in the next room. Which is f**king crazy to say out loud.”
For her part, Siwa has denied cheating on Ebbs – emphasizing that her relationship with Hughes is simply platonic.
