A restaurant manager in Canada has been fired after refusing to serve a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat.

The manager, Darin Hodge, was working at Vancouver’s Stanley Park Teahouse when he refused to serve the man in the MAGA hat on Tuesday, per Global News. Hodge reportedly asked the man to take the hat off, informing him that he wouldn’t be waited on until he removed the hat. However, the Trump advocate said no.

The restaurant’s owner, the Sequoia Company, shared that Hodge was subsequently fired for not adhering to the company’s “philosophy of tolerance” policy.

But Hodge told Global News that he made no mistake, and that he would make the same choice if given another chance.

“I stand by my decision to ask the patron to remove his hat. The MAGA hat has come to symbolize racism, bigotry, Islamophobia, misogyny, white supremacy, homophobia. As a person with a strong moral backbone, I had to take a stand against this guest’s choice of headwear while in my former place of work,” he said.

Hodge’s firing follows last week’s incident at Virginia’s Red Hen restaurant, which refused service to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders based on the owner’s “moral conviction.”

Darin should go ahead and start a GoFundMe. We’re sure people would donate.
