Octavia Spencer to Host a Free ‘Black Panther’ Screening for Underserved Kids in Mississippi

Octavia is brining a little bit of Wakanda to Mississippi.

The actress plans to host a free screening for underserved kids.

“I think I will buy out a theatre in an underserved community there to ensure that all our brown children can see themselves as a superhero,” she captioned an ad for the movie on Instagram. “I will let you know where and when Mississippi. Stay tuned. #KingsAndQueensWillRise #blackpanthermovie.”

It’s not the first time Octavia has given back in this way.

Last year, she bought out several theaters in Los Angeles to host free screenings of her film ‘Hidden Figures.’

“If you know a family in need that would like to see our movie but can’t afford it have them come,” Octavia wrote last year. “It’s first come first served. My mom would not have been able to afford to take me and my siblings. So, I’m honoring her and all single parents this #mlkweekend Pass the word.”

For the record, Octavia doesn’t have a role in ‘Black Panther’ so this is purely an act of love. ‘Black Panther’ opens Feb 16.
