Hate It or Love It? Saint Laurent Paris Goes Rock Grunge For New Ad Campaign [Photos]


The French powerhouse that is Saint Laurent is, and has been known for decades as the classic, sophisticated, and couture designer worthy of the praise and not0riety that it receives. With an array of ad campaigns featuring icons and the most famous Hollywood stars… to many people’s surprise and disapproval, the brand has gone a different route this time around with its latest ad campaign.  Courtney Love, Ariel Pink, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, and Marilyn Manson are not individuals that one would associate with the brand, but these are indeed the faces for Saint Laurent’s new campaign cast by creative director Hedi Slimane.

Slimane chose a grunge and rock aesthetic this time around obviously; but has he gone too far with this unusual change, or is it simply creativity and artistic licensure. Slimane has always pushed the envelope somewhat, if you recall he was responsible for the name change of Yves Saint Laurent to the present Saint Laurent Paris. Anyone can get the typical model or actress, so is this simply something different that will promote the brand or do you think this will hurt Saint Laurent’s image? Do you hate It or Love It?
