The PSA was part of a promotion for an event hosted on Sept. 17 at Wembley Stadium in London. The benefit concert attracted 12,000 attendees and headliners including Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, PinkPantheress, and Palestinian artists Elyanna and Saint Levant. Brian Eno, an English music artist, producer, and activist, organized the concert. The event raised upwards of $2 million in donations to Palestinian aid organizations, including Taawon, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and Palestine Medical Relief Service

In the PSA, Eilish appears alongside her brother Finneas, emphasizing the urgent need to stop the war in Gaza. Indya Moore, best known for their work in “Pose,” also lended their voice to the emotionally charged call for action. The message the video sends is clear: global citizens must pressure their governments to demand a ceasefire, support humanitarian aid, and speak out against the continued devastation in Gaza and the West Bank.

Joining Eilish and Moore are dozens of high-profile figures, including Joaquin Phoenix, Cillian Murphy, Steve Coogan, Florence Pugh, Sharon Horgan, and Peter Gabriel. Malala Yousafzai and Rupi Kaur also lend their support, amplifying the message across political and cultural spheres. The video serves not only as a plea for peace but also as a condemnation of global inaction. The PSA encourages viewers to support Palestinian-led relief efforts and take concrete political steps.

More on the Genocide in Gaza

On Sept. 16, the United Nations declared that Israel had committed genocide during its ongoing military operations in Palestine. Since October 7, 2023, when the terrorist group Hamas attacked Israeli citizens, an estimated 65,000 Palestinian citizens have been killed by the Israeli government. Over 90% of homes in Palestine are estimated to have been damaged or destroyed. The vast majority of the population of Gaza has been displaced and requires urgent aid.

Ellish has been a consistent advocate for Palestinian liberation over the past several months, alongside her work in environmental justice and advocating for mental health resources. Moore has similarly been engaged in advocacy for Palestine, even well before October 2023. Moore is known for their activism that comes with no exceptions. They have led protests that advocate for human rights and have been one of the loudest voices in favor of Palestine.

The campaign’s message is rooted in moral urgency. Artists in the PSA emphasize that silence in the face of humanitarian catastrophe is unacceptable. “Speak out now,” several of them say in unison. Pressure your government. Lend your support to those who are peacefully campaigning.” Their collective tone is somber but resolute. The public figures underscore the belief that art and activism are intertwined, especially in moments of global crisis.

Did you catch any of the performance from the benefit concert? What do you think of celebrities being advocates for humanitarian issues?
