‘Bad Boys 4’ Gets an Official 2019 Release Date

Sony Pictures announced that ‘Bad Boys 4,’ the fourth installment in the ‘Bad Boys’ franchise has an official release date.

via Variety:

Sony has dated “Spider-Man: Homecoming 2” for July 5, 2019, and moved “Bad Boys 4” off that holiday weekend and forward to the start of Memorial Day weekend, on May 24, 2019.

Sony made the announcements on Friday. “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” starring Tom Holland, opens on July 7, 2017; and “Bad Boys for Life” — the third film in the “Bad Boys” franchise — starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence — debuts on Jan. 12, 2018.

The studio released the first trailer for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” late Thursday night. Marvel’s reboot of the franchise is the sixth “Spider-Man” film. Holland first appeared as the character in a cameo in this year’s “Captain America: Civil War.”

Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man co-stars in the film as a superhero mentor to the web-slinger in what appears to be a new storyline in the Spider-Man world. Michael Keaton also stars in the movie, along with Donald Glover, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Hannibal Buress, Michael Mando, Logan Marshall-Green, and Tony Revolori.

Jon Watts is directing from a script written by “Vacation” helmers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are producing.

“Bad Boys for Life” was originally dated for June 2, 2017, but was pushed back to 2018. Joe Carnahan is on board to direct the buddy-cop action comedy, taking over for Michael Bay, who helmed the first two pics. Jerry Bruckheimer is back as producer.

The first “Bad Boys” helped launch Smith into movie superstardom in 1995. News about the 2019 dates was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

Let’s get through ‘Bad Boys 3’ first before we get excited about the fourth one.
