The social media rumor mill went into overdrive this weekend after Pop Hive, a pop culture community Twitter account, claimed Zendaya and Tom Holland were “reportedly engaged” in secret.

Zendaya’s mom is seemingly shutting down recent engagement rumors about her daughter and boyfriend Tom Holland by reminding fans to beware of “clickbait.”

Claire Stoermer cryptically posted the definition of the word on her Instagram Story Wednesday as fans were buzzing about the rumored engagement.

“Clickbait typically refers to the practice of writing sensationalized or misleading headlines in order to attract clicks on a piece of content,” the online dictionary definition read.

“It often relies on exaggerating claims or leaving out key information in order to encourage traffic. The term is generally used in a dismissive sense,” the quote went on.

The speculation seemingly began when a Twitter account called Pop Hive posted a snap of the pair, accompanied by a caption claiming they were “reportedly engaged.”

The account did not reference the source of said “report,” however, the post came a few days after an insider described the couple’s relationship as “serious and permanent” to Us Weekly.

“They’re both in settling-down mode and are absolutely planning for a real future together,” a source told the outlet last week.

The “Euphoria” actress and her British beau, both 26, met in 2016 while playing MJ and Peter Parker in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Page Six were the first to confirm the duo — affectionately known as “Tomdaya” — were dating, after they were spotted making out inside a car in July 2021.

Zendaya previously said she found the public’s fascination with her relationship with Holland “quite strange and weird and confusing and invasive.”

“The equal sentiment [we both share] is just that when you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own,” she told GQ in November 2021.

“I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other.”
