Who Knew? Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby Won a Lawsuit on Judge Judy [Video]

15-years before Marilyn Mosby stepped into the spotlight for bringing charges against six cops in the death of Freddie Gray as Baltimore City State’s Attorney, Ms. Mosby took her law talents to the infamous courtroom of Judge Judy.

Back then, she was just 20-year-old college student Marilyn James, who brought her neighbor Ryan Johnson to the court and won a nearly $2,000 judgement for damages

So, what landed her in the courtroom in the first place?

Marilyn was an undergrad student at Tuskegee University in Alabama at the time. She left her four-bedroom apartment for three months during summer break and returned later in the fall to find her door broken down and her apartment completely trashed.

“It was total disrespect,” she told Judge Judy. “Basically, my apartment was a wreck.”

Ryan Johnson, her neighbor at the time, told the court that someone had broken into the building and he had no idea what had happened.

What made Johnson’s story so bizarre, was that his wife was pregnant and Marilyn found “baby decorations” and other “evidence of a baby shower” inside her apartment.

“You think a burglar would make a baby shower?” Judge Judy asked the defendant during the show.

“Mr. Johnson, what you did to this young woman was wrong,” she said. “You figured she is a college student, she has no way of fighting back, she has nothing else to do … You took advantage of her.”

Marilyn walked away with $1,731.90. Check out the episode below!
