Is Will Smith gunning for an Academy Award?

After playing a suave con man in the romantic comedy-drama Focus earlier this year, Will is tackling a far more serious role this December.

Based on a true story, Concussion stars Will as Dr. Bennet Omalu, a forensic neuropathologist who discovers traumatic brain injuries in two NFL players who later commit suicide. Given his find, Dr. Omalu goes to war with the NFL to get executives to acknowledge the drawbacks of constantly being hit on the field.
