Watch: Mahershala Ali Wins Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for 'Moonlight' [Video]

Mahershala Ali is an Academy Award winner.

The 43-year-old, who recently welcomed a daughter with wife Amatus Sami-Karim, won the Academy Award for Actor in a Supporting Role for Moonlight at tonight’s ceremony.

Like Viola Davis, Mahershala was considered the frontrunner throughout awards season. Although he was snubbed for a Golden Globe, he previously won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

A tearful Mahershala thanked director Barry Jenkins, his wife, cast and more during his acceptance speech.

Mahershala is currently in talks to join Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy in the Paramount thriller Triple Frontier.

Congratulations, Mahershala!
