Comedian George Lopez was performing on Saturday night in Phoenix, when he dropped a racially-insensitive joke that upset a member of the audience. “There’s still two rules in the fucking Latino family,” he said. “Don’t marry somebody black, and don’t park in front of our house.”
That’s when an audience member in close to the stage got upset and threw up the middle finger. George went all the way off on the woman, telling her to “shut the f*ck up, or leave” — among other things. He continued to pop off on the woman until he eventually asked security to have her escorted out.
You have 2 choices , have a good day or get the fuck out #gacho

Reactions to George’s outburst have varied — with some offended at the joke, others okay with the joke but offended at how he talked to the woman, and others offended at both the joke AND how he talked to the woman.

George Lopez is not canceled in my book. Y'all are overly sensitive & fake dramatic these days & it's so fucking lame. I hope he prospers ?

And George Lopez is just showing why I do not believe in POC solidarity. Anti-blackness is real. And shout out to black Latinx.

Black folks, help me out here. Are the blacks referenced in hip hop music different than those who George Lopez spoke about?

The George Lopez 'two rules' joke was funny to me bc, as a black mexican, that rings very true. The aftermath? Not so much.
