After weeks of promo, Bruce Jenner’s interview with Diane Sawyer aired last night and Bruce has officially come out as transgender.

For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman,” Jenner told Sawyer in a special two-hour edition of ABC News’ “20/20.”

The former Olympian-turned-reality-star shared his story, his truth — and it’s incredible.

“People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life — it is part of me,” Jenner, 65, said. “That female side is part of me. That’s who I am.”

Over several days with Sawyer, Bruce opened up about his struggles with gender identity and how it started as a child.

“I look at it this way—Bruce always telling a lie. He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is. And I can’t do that any longer,” Jenner said.

“My brain is much more female than it is male,” he added. “It’s hard for people to understand that, but that’s what my soul is.”

In hours of interviews with Diane taken in New York and California, Jenner detailed his internal struggles with being transgender, which he said he has wrestled with since childhood. He says he used to dress in his mother’s and sister’s clothes.

“I marked the closet so when I put it back I could put it all back, everything back in the exact same spot so I wouldn’t get caught,” Jenner said. “And, at the time, I didn’t know why I was doing it besides it just made me feel good.”

During the interview, Jenner referred to himself using male pronouns though he referred to himself as both “Bruce” and “her” at times. He explained that while referring to this particular interview, at this time in his life, that male pronouns are appropriate until he unveils his true self.

“I look at it this way—Bruce always telling a lie. He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is. And I can’t do that any longer,” Jenner said.

As far as his ex-wives are concerned, including Kris Jenner, each knew a little of Bruce’s struggles but kept quiet.

His kids have all been supportive. In fact, he told Diane that Kim Kardashian has been the most supportive throughout the whole ordeal — and that’s thanks to Kanye.

“They all cried. Mainly because they didn’t want anybody to hurt dad,” Jenner said. “They are very protective of me.”

When it comes to the future, Bruce says that he’s taking things slowly but has been taking female hormones for over a year and has undergone a few cosmetic procedures to make himself reflect more of how he feels on the inside.

It’s truly a touching interview that raises a lot of questions, but also provides a ray of hope for the millions out there dealing with the same issue.
