Alfre Woodard hosted her annual pre-Oscars dinner Wednesday night, and 28 of Hollywood’s most talented black actresses were in attendance.
Viola Davis, Kerry Washington and Angela Bassett were among the guests.
According to Variety, Alfre came up with the idea to host the annual Oscar’s Sistahs Soiree to celebrate black women in Hollywood and assert that there’s no bad blood between the many of them who often vie for the same roles.
“Every time we hear each others’ names, it felt like it was one of our reps going, ‘If that b–tch turns it down, then you can have it!’” Woodard revealed at a cocktail gathering before the dinner. “I was like, wait a minute. When I hear my sisters’ names, I want to have a joyful feeling in my heart about it.”
