Thanks to the Internet, we’ve seen prom dresses ranging from the most elegant to the most outrageously ratchet.
This year, 18-year-old Mireya Briceno chose a backless polka-dotted prom dress for her high school’s prom (above) — a dress that got her kicked out for allegedly violating the school’s dress code.
via Life & Style:
“The guidelines specifically said backless dresses are acceptable,” her mom, Connie, told ‘Yahoo Parenting.’ “The rules stated the dress needed to adhere to the ‘fingertip’ rule — meaning the dress had to hit below your fingertip when standing with her arms by your side.”
She added, “They also said no midriff showing, which to me means stomach. And they said the words ‘backless dresses are acceptable.'”
Mireya had no problem checking into the dance and was able to enjoy her night for about an hour before being told to leave by the vice principal.
According to ‘FOX 17,’ Principal Brad Perkins stands by the administration’s decision and claims Mireya was initially able to enter the dance because she was wearing her date’s jacket.
Connie just wishes her daughter’s night could have gone better. “She was really upset. She has her boyfriend’s prom in two weeks, but still, this was her prom. She missed out on a memorable time with her friends,” the mother tells ‘Yahoo.’
Call us crazy, but we don’t see anything wrong with that dress. Do you think the dress is too inappropriate for prom?
