Saturday Night Live dedicated a moment during last night’s opening monologue to the city of Paris and those affected by Friday’s terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of over 120 people.
Instead of opening the show with the usual round of jokes, SNL cast member Cecily Strong spoke the following words of solidarity:
Paris is the City of Light, and here in New York City, we know that light will never go out. Our love and support is with everyone there tonight. We stand with you.

She then repeated the same message in French before adding the show’s standard opener, “And now, live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”
