Sheree Whitfield to Play a Washed Up Reality Star in New Sitcom ‘Altered Reality’

Sheree Whitfield, along with five other ‘Real Housewives,’ have signed on to play washed up reality stars in a new scriptedTV show.

via Mail Online:

Joanna Krupa, Jill Zarin, Sheree Whitfield, Gretchen Rossi, Alexis Bellino and Joyce Giraud are set to star in Altered Reality – a sitcom that satirizes life on a reality TV show.

The show, which is set to go into production in the next six months, is being produced by Giraud’s husband, Michael Olhoven, who scored an Oscar in 2005 for his work on Capote.

Rossi, 38, formerly of Real Housewives of Orange County, told DailyMail.com that the new project is ‘really over the top’ but would dispel some of the ‘misconceptions’ about reality stars.

She said: ‘I think viewers will love this show – it’s really over the top with the cat fights and drama and I am thrilled to be part of the cast.

‘The script goes all the way with the stereotypes and misconceptions about reality stars, and we really play that up to illustrate the insanity that goes down in the world of realty television.’

The drama, which is set in Hollywood, follows a group of former reality stars who relocate to Los Angeles in a bid to find serious acting work.

But when producers prove unmoved by their resumes, all six sign up for a reality show called The Socialite and shenanigans ensue.

According to creator Darren Bettencourt, 39, the non-reality star roles, including those of executives on fictional network Yay!, will be played by actors.

But Zarin, 53, who returns to Real Housewives of New York this season, said: ‘This is acting and [everything is] totally fictional.’

‘Our characters do satirize some of the misconceptions that are out there about us personally which is fun.’

She added: ‘My character is the ultimate diva always looking to make a buck. In the first episode, one of the main stars of the show dies in a freak accident.

‘I can’t say who, but the first thing my character does is go out and hustle sponsorships for the funeral. It is really sick and twisted, but hilarious at the same time.

‘That is just the tip of the iceberg, there are scandalous affairs, hit men, private detectives, blackmail, sex, drugs and rock and roll – it’s beyond.’

More details about the project are sure to be announced soon. Will you be watching?
