Selena Gomez Kidney Transplant Reference Removed from ‘Saved By the Bell’ Reboot

‘Saved By the Bell’ responded to backlash for including a reference to Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant by removing the bit from the episode.

After the show premiered on the Peacock streaming platform, fans noticed a couple of scenes that talked about Selena Gomez‘s kidney transplant, and called them out.

Peacock has since issued an apology, and noted they were going to be making a donation to Selena‘s charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.

They took things a step further by removing the scenes altogether.

Though Selena hasn’t spoken out about the situation, her friend and donor Francia Raisa has.

“Appreciate the apology but let’s not forget about the donors that potentially felt offended and dismissed from the spray paint written on the wall,” she wrote on Twitter.

“As a kidney donor I want to show love and let other donors know that you are not alone. You are seen. You are appreciated. You are so brave and your selfless act is very much appreciated and valued!” Francia added.
