Say What Now? Waffle House Customer Makes His Own Food, Takes Selfies While Employee on Duty Naps [Photos]

South Carolina resident and Waffle House enthusiast Alex Bowen had the time of his life the other morning.

At about 3am, a drunk Alex found himself at Waffle House wanting to place an order for food. After waiting about 10 minutes for someone to take his order — no one showed up. He decided to hop behind the counter and make his own food.

“That’s when I got hot on the grill with a Texas bacon cheesesteak melt,” Alex told ABC News.

He documented his culinary excursion with a series of selfies.

While he was cooking, he noticed a Waffle House employee sleeping. He said the restaurant worker “didn’t wake up the entire time.”

Alex didn’t pay for his meal the night he made it, but he did return the next day to settle his tab.

A Waffle House manager was amused by the stunt. They said that while they were impressed by Alex’s cooking skills, customers should never get behind the counter — for safety reasons.

However, the manager may be interested in offering Alex a job.

“We are reviewing this incident and will take appropriate disciplinary action. In a related note, obviously Alex has some cooking skills, and we’d like to talk to him about a job since we may have something for him.”
