Fans of Omar Tyree’s Flyy Girl book trilogy will see the author’s work brought to life on the big screen.
It was announced in July 2013 that CodeBlack Films had acquired the rights to adapt Flyy Girl into a feature film, and now the film has officially cast its leading lady.
Sanaa Lathan will portray Tracy Ellison in the coming-of-age story about a young woman forced to examine her life, goals and sexuality.
Sanaa had the following to say about the exciting announcement:
“So many people have grown up on this series and I’m looking forward to bringing Tracy Ellison’s story to life through film. It’s my hope to continue to help bring diverse stories to the big screen.”
Sanaa will also executive produce the film.
