Oprah Warns Followers About Someone Running a Scam By Impersonating Her on the Internet [Video]

Oprah’s good name is being used to try and scam people on social media.

The media mogul herself hopped online to warn followers about people trying to fraud them out of information.

“Somebody out there is trying to scam you using my name and my avatar on social media, asking for money if you sign up for an OWN account,” she said, before declaring repeatedly “It’s a fraud!”

The scam began on Instagram, where a user with the name @own_christmas said Oprah was giving away $5,000 each to the first 100,000 followers that follow the account.

The account has since been deactivated, but several screenshots of the original post made still exist under the hashtag #own_christmas.

We all know Oprah isn’t giving away cash to randoms on the Internet. If you believe that, then you’re probably still waiting on an email back from that Nigerian prince who promised to wire you $500,000 if you sent him your bank info.
