Not So Fast! FOX Says Leonardo DiCaprio Does NOT Get Raped By a Bear in ‘The Revenant’ [Video]

The internet collectively freaked out this morning after it was reported that Leonardo DiCaprio’s new movie The Revenant features scenes where Leo’s character, Hugh Glass, gets raped by a bear, not once — but twice.

According to Drudge Report:

The explicit moment from Oscar winning director Alejandro Inarritu has caused maximum controversy in early screenings. Some in the audience escaped to the exits when the Wolf of Wall Street met the Grizzly of Yellowstone. The story of rural survivalism and revenge reaches new violent levels for a mainstream film.

The bear flips Leo over and thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling.

“He is raped — twice!”

Not to be outdone, DiCaprio rips open a horse and sleeps naked in its carcass!

While many of us were quick to believe the hype (at this point, what Leo is/isn’t willing to do for an Academy Award is anyone’s guess) , FOX representatives say it’s absolutely not true.

via EW:

“As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs,” a Fox spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly in an exclusive statement. “There is clearly no rape scene with a bear.”

In The Revenant, which Fox will debut in limited release on Christmas Day, DiCaprio’s character is a frontiersman who confronts the bear and her cubs while out in the woods.
