Nicki Minaj took the stage at the after-party for Philipp Plein’s NYFW show on Sunday night and called out the fashion industry for exploiting Black culture.
“Thank you Philipp Plein for including our culture,” she said. “Designers get really big and really rich off of our culture, and then you don’t see a motherfucker that look anything like us in the front row half the time. So let’s make some noise for Philipp Plein tonight.”
She has a point — though it’s not the first time Nicki’s been vocal about the exploitation of Black culture in fashion.
Earlier this year, she called out Giuseppe Zanotti after he refused to take her call about a business partnership.
We’re all for people using their platform to speak on diversity — or the lack thereof.
