Nick Cannon has created a bit of controversy for himself by dressing up as a white man to promote his new album, White People Party Music.

He created a character, “Connor Smallnut” and hit the streets.

“#WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft ‘Bro I got drafted!!'”

His antics have prompted some harsh criticism, many calling the stunt ‘racist’ and raising questions of double standards when it comes to racial jokes.

Nick responded to some of the backlash on Twitter, saying:

Don’t get your fancy panties in a bunch! It’s funny how people take themselves so seriously. People love drama! We feed off of it. Just relax and have fun!

Still, it raises the question — did Nick cross the line? Do you consider Nick’s stunt racist or merely a joke?

What if race roles were reversed and a white rapper dressed up as a black man?
