We love(d) us some Matthew McConaughey, but we might just have to go ahead an add him to the ‘cancelled’ list.
The actor insists that it’s time to ’embrace’ Donald Trump.
via NYDN:
“They don’t have a choice now. He’s our President. And it’s a very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time that we’ve ever had,” McConaughey told BBC.
“At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact and be constructive with him over the next four years.”
McConaughey, promoting his new movie “Gold,” was asked about “small-time, central redneck America sticking one up to the snotty East Coast and the elites.”
The 47-year-old actor’s comments come contradictory to the outspoken liberals in Hollywood who have lashed out against Trump since his election.
Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards in particular were filled with messages about the dangers presented by the President.
McConaughey, however, said differences in ethics don’t matter.
“Even those who most strongly may disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done … it’s time to think about how constructive can you be,” he told BBC.
“Because he’s the President for the next four years at least.”
Sorry, Matthew. Embracing fascism isn’t really our thing.
