‘Love Island’ stars Cely Vazquez and Johnny Middlebrooks have officially ended their relationship.
via People:
Vazquez, 24, announced the news of their breakup on Saturday, sharing a statement on social media.
“Because you’ve all been such a close part of our relationship, I wanted to share with you that Johnny and I are no longer together,” she wrote. “While our relationship has been public from the start, I do ask that you respect this decision and our privacy during this time.”
“There is no reason to speculate, I am so thankful for our time together, but now it’s simply time for each of us to focus on our personal journey,” she continued. “I hope that you continue to support each of us individually as we move forward, heal and continue to follow our dreams.”
Middlebrooks, 22, also shared a message about their split, writing that he “will forever cherish” the time they spent together.
“Thank you so much for everything. I appreciate the time we spent together on this unforgettable journey,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories. “I will forever cherish the fun we had, the laughs we shard, and the memories we created. Thank you to all of the fans who loved and supported us the whole way through. Much love.”
The pair had last posted photos of them together in December.
“Never been happier,” she captioned one image of them spending time together in California, while he wrote alongside a different photo, “You’re all I need.”
On the same day that they confirmed their split, Vazquez also posted photos with fellow Love Island USA season 2 alums Calvin Cobb and winner Justine Ndib, who are still in a relationship with Caleb Corprew.
“Blessed with the fricken fricken fricken best,” Vazquez captioned a series of photos that showed the group smiling while hanging out on a Malibu beach.
“The love I have for you two is . . . ??,” Ndib wrote in a loving comment.
Middlebrooks and Vazquez got together early on in the season and remained together until the end — even after Johnny’s head was turned at Casa Amor.
Since the show ended, they continued to date and frequently documented their lives together.
“Writing the next chapter of my life and you’re on the first page @thecelyvazquez,” read one of his posts from October, while she wrote in November that they were “attached at the hip.”
Well…they had a good run. A much longer run than we expected them to have.
