Coldplay’s seventh album, A Head Full Of Dreams, isn’t out until next week (Dec. 4), but the group shared a teaser for their collaboration with Beyoncé, “Hymn For The Weekend,” on Instagram.
It’s just a 15-second clip, but it sounds like the song is a winner!
When Coldplay frontman Chris Martin spoke to EW he mentioned working with Beyoncé and said, “I don’t know if you’ve come into contact with her, but she’s all goodness. And when she sings, she really puts you into her place.”
He also admitted he was rather nervous to ask her to join him in the studio.
“This album is about celebrating and this angel figure kept popping up and I was thinking, ‘Gosh, Beyoncé would be perfect, but she’d never do it,’” he recalled. “One day, we were talking and I was trying to drop the hint, but I didn’t want to be imprudent. And she said I’ll do it.”
Well, alright. The lesson here is that sometimes you just have to shoot your shot — even if you’re asking Beyoncé to do a song.
