Lee Daniels Responds to Backlash From His 'I Refuse to Embrace Racism' Comments: 'Watch the Show...THEN Come for Me!' [Video]

Lee Daniels took to Instagram to attempt to clarify comments he made earlier this week on ‘The Real.’

While discussing his new Fox series, ‘Star,’ Lee said that he made the show’s lead character white “because I thought that instinctively, the country needed to heal.”  He added, “I think that this white girl is so fabulous that black people will embrace her, and white people will embrace her.”

Lee also said that he didn’t let racism play a role in his career and make him into an “angry black man.”

“I wouldn’t be where I was if I embraced racism. If I embraced it, then it became real. And if it became real, I would be an angry black man,” he said.

Needless to say, people weren’t really feeling any of that.

In response to the backlash, Lee shared the following video and explanation for his comments:

Chile bye….???? … y’all know what I meant!
