Lamar Odom has had a rough year, but who doesn’t love a good comeback story?
Lam’s preparing to return to basketball and play for the L.A. Clippers.
According to E!:
With Khloé Kardashian Odom on the opposite side of the world for work, Lamar jetted across the country to Rhode Island and we’re told he’s training intensively to get himself ready for his imminent return to the L.A. Clippers.
“He’s in tip-top shape and ready to play,” a source tells E! News, adding that the 34-year-old forward hasn’t signed a contract yet but a verbal deal is in place after his meeting with Clippers coach Doc Rivers. He’s expected to start playing next month and will undergo his mandatory physical at a time closer to his debut, the source said.
Meanwhile, another source tells E! News that Lamar flew into Boston yesterday and then spent about an hour working out at the University of Rhode Island’s Ryan Center this afternoon, arriving at the Kingston campus in a Mercedes with tinted windows and a Massachusetts license plate. He was wearing his wedding ring and “seemed so happy and healthy,” the witness said.
“There were swarms of students ditching class and running over to meet him, and he just kept smiling and saying hello to all of his fans,” the source said. “He was personable to everyone, and just had an overall good attitude.”
The gym was closed off to the public while he was practicing, but he took a timeout to amiably pose for pics, high-five members of the school’s basketball and football teams who approached him to say hey—and answer a pressing question.
We’re told that a bunch of the kids swarming around were asking about his wife and Lamar ultimately replied, “Khloé and I are fine. She’s in Australia right now and I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other again soon.”
One of the lucky fans who scored a picture with the basketball player posted it to Instagram with the caption: “chilling with lamlam @idkcait @khloekardashian. And @paulinaxchronis is apparently an all-around Kardashians fan, too, considering her use of Khloé’s pet name for her husband.
We’re rooting for Lamar & can’t wait to see him return to the court!
