Kim Kardashian has followed through on her tweet and hired her high-powered legal team to help work on freeing 29-year-old Cyntoia Brown and 62-year-old Alice Johnson who are currently serving time in prison due to unjust sentencing.
The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown pic.twitter.com/73y26mLp7u

Cyntoia, was arrested and tried for murder as an adult when she was 16 after she shot and killed the 43-year-old man who was keeping her as a sex slave. She has been sentenced to 60 years with 51 served before the possibility of parole.
Her story recently went viral and caught the attention of several big celebrities — including Rihanna.
Alice Johnson is a grandmother currently serving 21 years of a life sentence for a first time, non-violent drug offense.

According to The Blast, Kim’s attorney, Shawn Holley, says that Kim “asked me to help her find a way to help these women. We have already contacted Alice Johnson and her team of lawyers who are now actively trying to find ways to facilitate her release.”
Shawn also has a conference call scheduled to begin discussions regarding the release of Cyntoia Brown. They don’t know exactly how they’re going to get her out, but they’re actively working on the case.
Kudos to Kim for being more than just a voice and actually using her power to get involved in the lives of these women.
