When the ladies of Xscape revealed they were recording new music without group member Kandi Burruss, Kandi announced it was partially because she had plans on Broadway.
We now know that Kandi is joining the cast of Chicago for an eight-week run beginning this January.

The hit musical, which recently celebrated its 21st anniversary on the Great White Way, will welcome Grammy award-winning Burruss, 41, as she makes her Broadway debut from Jan. 15 to March 11 at the Ambassador Theater. The Xscape singer will play Matron “Mama” Morton.
Broadway rehearsals are NO joke! It makes perfect sense why she didn’t have time to drop everything and spend hours in the studio recording new Xscape music with the girls.
