Earlier this month it was announced that Rodney Jerkins intended to remake several of his greatest hits with new musicians in celebration of making it 20-years in the industry.
Among the songs to be remade was Brandy & Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” and it was to be sung by Jessie J and Ariana Grande. As soon as news of the remake broke, social media lit up with protests and upset fans.
Thankfully, Rodney heard our cries and put a stop to it.
Jessie told UK newspaper The Mirror last night at The American Music Awards:
“No, it’s not true. Neither of us have agreed,, Sadly people are believing it. I spoke to Brandy and I was like, ‘No, it’s not happening’. Monica and Brandy are the best.'”
