Although it is widely believed that Moonlight is in a tight race with La La Land for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, it was Hidden Figures that won Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at tonight’s SAG Awards (La La Land, which squarely centers Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling’s characters, was not nominated in this category).
Hidden Figures, the true story of NASA’s women computers and the Space Race, beat out Captain Fantastic, Fences, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight for the honor.
Taraji P. Henson accepted the award on behalf of the cast and gave an impassioned speech about unity and love.

Hidden Figures is up for three honors at next month’s Academy Awards.
