Republican Party staffer Elizabeth Lauten has resigned from her job as communications director for U.S. Rep Steve Fincher, R-Tenn. following her disrespectful Facebook post (then apology) about Sasha and Maila Obama.

There’s been no additional comment on her resignation, other than the fact it happened.

Lauten’s rep told NBC News via phone that her departure was already ‘in the works’ — but we can’t say we believe that.
