Welcome to the Winter Solstice! Jupiter and Saturn are set to align today, becoming the closest to Earth that they have been for centuries, prompting memes and conspiracy theories about what supernatural events may take place.

The best jokes, of course, came from Twitter and are about how Black people will be receiving their superpowers today.
The meme first began with a tweet from @lottidot, who connected the date with the timing of the Coronavirus vaccine. After making claims about the disease, the Twitter user said the COVID-19 vaccine was being created so that the U.S. government could change Americans’ genetic codes. When asked how the government would benefit from altering people’s DNA, they replied:
“As Black people, genetically we are stronger and smarter than everyone else. We are more creative. On December 21, our real DNA will be unlocked and majority will be able to do things that we thought were fiction. Learn who [you] are as a people. They wanna make us average.”

This jumpstarted weeks of jokes, memes and conversations about possible incoming superpowers.
“Nat just told me instead of falling down the stairs this morning she FLOATED lm[a]oooo,” one person tweeted Monday morning. “Her superpowers are kicking IN. #WhereMineAt???”
“Why I love having a Black therapist reason number 2,112. In our session this morning she told me she could feel her superpowers kicking in #December21,” another wrote.
Other conspiracy theories — like Christian evangelist Pastor Paul Begley saying the world would end — have also spread about Dec. 21 due to the planets’ new alignment. However, this one’s definitely the most fun.
Read on to see the best tweets about people getting— or waiting to receive — their superpowers below.
