Dylann Roof has reportedly confessed to shooting and killing nine people at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church Wednesday night.

Roof told police that he “almost didn’t go through with [the shooting] because everyone was so nice to him,” sources told NBC News’ Craig Melvin. But in the end he decided to “go through with his mission.”
After waiving his right to an attorney and being transported back to South Carolina on Thursday, he’s being held in protective custody and in isolation. He’s also on suicide watch.
Dylann is expected to appear for a 2 p.m. ET bond hearing Friday in North Charleston, South Carolina, where he will be formally be charged with nine counts of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to the Charleston Police Department.
