Donald Trump Confirms He’s Under Investigation for Obstruction Over Comey Firing

Donald Trump took to Twitter to confirm that he’s being investigated for his part in firing FBI director James Comey.

In his mind, it’s a ‘witch hunt.’

via Variety:

Although he didn’t name anyone, Trump appeared to be pointing the finger at Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who began overseeing the Russia investigation after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from it.

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller was investigating whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice in relation to ongoing investigations of Russian influence in the 2016 election.

The Post reported that Mueller and his team are interviewing senior intelligence officials about Trump’s role, including Dan Coats, director of national intelligence; Mike Rogers, head of the National Security Agency; and Richard Ledgett, who recently left his role as Rogers’ deputy.

Trump also denied again in the morning tweets any kind of collusion with the Russian government.

“After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my ‘collusion with the Russians,’ nobody has been able to show any proof. Sad!” Trump wrote.

Mark Corallo, spokesman for Trump’s personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, said earlier this week that, “The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable, and illegal.”

Trump admitted in an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt days after Comey’s ousting on May 9 that the Russia investigation influenced his decision to terminate him. Since then, Mueller, who served as FBI director before Comey, took over the investigation.

Comey, who testified before Congress last week, indicated that he told Trump on multiple occasions, upon his incidence, that he was not under investigation during the Russia probe.

Let’s hope the FBI finds what they’re looking for. Trump’s gotta go!
