One of our favorite songs from Jay-Z’s new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, is “Tom Ford.”
We’ve been wondering what Tom Ford actually thinks of “Tom Ford” and now we know.
When asked about the song, Ford replied:
“Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay-Z track named after them? I mean, come on, it’s pretty rare that something like that happens,” Ford told WWD. “It’s a kind of validation of one’s work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture.”
He went on to talk about his favorite line:
“My favorite line is ‘I don’t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford.’ I love that he gets a ‘high’ from my clothes. I have been dressing him for years now, and I have to say I think he looks great in my clothes,” the designer says. “[He] is one of our biggest customers. He let me know about this quite a while ago.”
Well, there you have it. You know you’ve made it when Jay-Z dedicated an entire song to your brand.
