It truly is the end of a late-night talk show era. Jay Leno’s already passed the The Tonight Show torch to Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea Handler is ending Chelsea Lately this year, and now it’s been announced that David Letterman is set to retire from The Late Show on CBS after his contract ends in 2015.
The show’s bassist, Mike Mills, broke the news on Twitter.

Letterman is expected to discuss his plan to retire on Thursday’s edition of The Late Show.
