Tucked into the nearly hour-long discussion set at Chappelle’s “hub of culture” shack in Ohio is insight straight from Chappelle himself about a certain White House news story circa 2019 involving alleged dirty left notes left for the Trump administration by members of the two-term Obama team.

In November 2019, former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham claimed that departing Obama aides left behind “you will fail” and “you aren’t going to make it” notes, among other variations, for the incoming Trump following the latter’s defeat of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

Susan Rice, Obama’s national security advisor, quickly responded by noting this was “another bald faced lie.”

According to Chappelle, these alleged dirty notes did exist. They did not, however, come from anyone in the Obama administration.

“This was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen,” Chappelle said around 14 minutes into his chat with the No Filter host. “This was, like, one of the last big parties the Obamas threw. And I’m not gonna say these celebrities’ names. There was a thing, remember, when the Trump administration moved in they said the Obama staff left dirty notes for us in all the drawers and all the cabinets? Now, I saw this happening and I’m not gonna say who did it but it was celebrities writing all this crazy shit and putting them all over there. And I saw them doing this. When I saw that on the news, I laughed real hard.”

Chappelle then briefly recalled a moment during the same event in which Obama briefly left the party and went upstairs, only to later make a theatric return just to hear more music.

“Do you remember what he did when he came back in?” Chappelle said. “When Obama walked back in, the crowd parts like the Red Sea … Many, many of these people are Black, which is a resting sight. It’s almost surreal. You can’t believe you’re in that place experiencing this culture. And the president walks in and everyone’s kinda looking and he goes like this, dabs like this. And the crowd went crazy. He was gettin’ it.”
