Cris Cab — ‘Red Road’ [New Music]

Don’t let the baby face fool you. The music is earnest, mature, and still manages to keep a feel-good vibe. This mixtape from Cris CabRed Road — is laid-back, lyrical bliss. The melodies and instruments are heavily reggae-influenced, and the collection has just enough pop, rock, and soul sensibilities mixed in to make it compatible for radio but still keep it so unlike anything on radio right now.

Now you might be wondering about the man behind the music. Cris Cab, 19, was born to Cuban parents in Miami and was infatuated with music since the age of five. When he was 14, his father bought him his first studio sessions. He was mentored by Pharrell Williams, recording partner of Wyclef Jean, and supporting act to O.A.R., Matisyahu, T-Pain, and Gym Class Heroes. I think it’s safe to say this young man knows his craft, takes it seriously, and will only get better from here.
