Cam Newton Announces He's a Father on Twitter

Cam Newton is a father!

The Carolina Panthers quarterback announced Wednesday that his longtime girlfriend Kia Proctor gave birth to their son last week.

“Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes!” Newton tweeted.

The baby was born on Christmas Eve, according to The Charlotte Observer. Cam was spotted leaving practice early on Dec. 24 in order to travel to Atlanta, where Kia gave birth.

My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes!

Last Sunday, Cam debuted a new touchdown dance during the Panthers/Falcons game where he cradled the ball like he was rocking a baby. It didn’t make sense then, but it certainly does now!
