Britney Spears Petitions for Jodi Montgomery to Be Permanent Conservator Instead of Her Father

Britney Spears’ legal dispute with her father, Jamie Spears is ongoing, with the singer most recently reportedly filing a petition asking that Jodi Montgomery become her permanent conservator rather than her father.

According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Britney Spears is asking that Jodi Montgomery be appointed as full-time conservator or her person, a job that she has done for the past two years. As we reported, her father stepped down after claiming he was unable to fill the role due to medical issues.

But, we broke the story, the change in conservators came after Jamie was investigated by law enforcement for a violent incident with one of Britney’s children.

Now, Britney is asking that her father resigns from the position for good.

According to the documents, filed by Britney’s legal team, “(Britney) has requested the resignation of the current conservator of her person, James P. Spears, who temporarily relinquished his powers effective as of September 9, 2019. The within petition requests his replacement by Jodi Pais Montgomery who has acted as temporary conservator of her person since that date.”

In bigger news, Britney’s team also noted, “(Britney) expressly reserves the right to petition of termination of this conservatorship. Noting in the within petition shall be deemed to constitute a waiver of that right.”

It appears this may be the beginning of the legal process of Britney Spears getting the entire conservatorship case dismissed. The pop star would still need to petition the court and get a judge’s approval before she is completely free. As you know, there has been a groundswell of fans with the #FreeBritney movement who are calling for it to happen sooner than later.

Britney Spears has not spoken publicly about the conservatorship since the “Framing Britney Spears” documentary’s release, but last month in court her attorney said that it was “no secret” she did not want her father to be her conservator.
