Tequan Richmond (Everybody Hates Chris) and Jason Weaver (Smart Guy) have joined the cast of Showtime’s currently untitled drama series about a young black man faced with the reality of growing up black in America.
Tequan will play Emmett, a young man who’s fathered three children with three different women. According to Deadline, he “believes his sexual prowess is what defines him,” but his thoughts on manhood will soon come under fire.
Jason will play Ronnie, “a street corner philosopher” who fights to win back the love of his life.
Aisha Hinds, Alex Henderson, Sierra McClain and Olivia Dawson have also joined the cast. For more on their roles, click here.
Lena Waithe (Dear White People) will pen the culturally relevant pilot script, while Common will serve as an executive producer.
