‘Black-ish’ Creator Kenya Barris Files for Divorce After 20 Years of Marriage

We have ‘black-ish,’ ‘grown-ish,’ and now ‘mixed-ish’ — is there a ‘divorce-ish’ coming next?

Kenya Barris, the man who created all of the aforementioned series, has filed for divorce from his wife Rania after two decades of marriage.

The writer and producer submitted the paperwork Friday in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Barris’ show, which premiered in 2014, has drawn inspiration from his real-life relationship with Rania. The series centers on Anthony Anderson’s character Andre, his wife Rainbow played by Tracee Ellis Ross, and their kids.

Rania ? whose nickname is Rainbow ? and Barris had previously mended their relationship after Rania filed for divorce in 2014.

The on-air relationship between Johnson and Ross’ characters, meanwhile, has experienced issues on the show in the past as well.

Rania spoke about the significance of the show chronicling issues between the married couple last year.

“Because so many of the stories are situations very exact to our life, Kenya cannot help as a writer but to make the character of Bow more prominent (and) important,” she told Entertainment Weekly at the time.

The sixth season of “black-ish” is set to premiere next month.

20 years is a long time.
