Following the first season success of black-ish, its creator Kenya Barris has inked a three-year deal with ABC Studios to continue developing television projects for the network, and at the top of his list is a sitcom loosely based on John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s marriage.
In an interview with BuzzFeed, Kenya had the following nice things to say about John, Chrissy and the sitcom:
“It’s inspired by them — they’re both super creative and super effusive and I’m just fans of them and everything they stand for. I’m really excited about it.”
He also confirmed that the sitcom will center on an interracial couple.
“We don’t know what’s going to be what. But it will be a part of the show in terms of showing those two world’s colliding and coming together — their issues and their obstacles that [happen inside] their personal relationship.”
The sitcom is tentatively titled Ordinary People (sound familiar?) and will begin filming in February if given the green light. *fingers crossed*
John and Chrissy will serve as producers on the project.
