Beyoncé Announces ‘Formation Scholars’ Scholarship Program for Young Women

Okay students, now let’s get in formation!

In honor of the one-year anniversary of ‘Formation,’ Beyoncé has announced a new scholarship program for young women.

The “Formation Scholars” program is meant to “encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious, and confident,” according to Beyonce.com.

In its inaugural year — the 2017-2018 school year — the scholars will be selected from four different schools: Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College.

“Four scholarships will be awarded, one per college, to female incoming, current, or graduate students pursuing studies in the creative arts, music, literature, or African-American studies,” reads the statement.

It is currently unclear how much money will go towards each scholarship winner, notes NPR.
