Apple has announced what they call “a unique, multi-year content partnership” with Oprah Winfrey.
In a statment, Apple writes:
“Together, Winfrey and Apple will create original programs that embrace her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world. Winfrey’s projects will be released as part of a lineup of original content from Apple.”
The partnership comes as Apple pushers further into original programming. The first of Apple’s television shows may debut as early as 2019, but the company hasn’t revealed how they plan to distribute them.
Oprah will remain the chairwoman and CEO of OWN, as her deal with Apple is non-exclusive. She’ll still work on her own network while also developing content for Apple.
Oprah + Apple? We’ll be watching.
