Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson wasted no time in roasting his long-time rival Sean “Diddy” Combs after the music mogul was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges. But this shade isn’t coming out of nowhere. Jackson and Combs have traded blows since the early 2000s.

Over the years, Jackson gleefully seized on every misstep — from federal raids on Combs’ homes to resurfaced videos of Combs’ past controversies — to stoke the fire. In 2024, Jackson even announced plans to executive produce a Netflix documentary chronicling the allegations against Combs.

This latest volley comes on the heels of a rollercoaster federal trial that ran seven weeks and saw Combs acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, but convicted on two counts of transporting women across state lines for prostitution. Here is a look at what Jackson said about the embattled music mogul.

In a now viral Instagram post, 50 Cent continued poking fun at Combs. “Diddy beat the Rico, that boy is a bad man, he’s like the Gay John Gotti,” the rapper joked. Jackson later doubled down, writing, “Get the f**k off my page talking about I’m supposed to be scared of the Gay Teflon Don!”

Jackson’s jab plays off the infamous nickname of mob boss John Gotti, known as the ‘Teflon Don’ for dodging serious convictions — until the feds finally brought him down. By calling Combs the “Gay John Gotti,” 50 Cent skewers both Combs’ narrow escape on the most damning charges and the swirling rumors about his sexuality that have dogged the Bad Boy founder.

Even with Combs still in custody, the public — and 50 Cent — are already speculating about the fallout. Jackson’s trolling spree suggests he’s eager for Combs to face consequences, posting AI-generated images mocking every angle of Combs’ predicament. But for many observers, the real headline isn’t the shade-throwing — it’s the broader conversation about power and consent.

Prosecutors described “freak-off” parties where drugs and coerced encounters ruled the night. In contrast, Comb’s defense portrayed the events as part of a consensual swinger lifestyle. After three days of jury deliberations, Judge Arun Subramanian denied bail. He cited concerns over Combs’ history of violent behavior, leaving the mogul behind bars until his October sentencing.

Central to the prosecution’s case was testimony from 34 witnesses, including hip-hop artist Kid Cudi and, most impactfully, Cassie Ventura. Ventura, Combs’ former partner, delivered four days of emotional testimony. She detailed years of alleged coercion, abuse, and “freak-off” sex marathons that she says Combs orchestrated. Her account set the tone for the trial. She described a relationship that began when she was a teenager and lasted over a decade.

Another key witness, known in court as “Capricorn Clark,” painted a similarly grim picture of life inside the Bad Boy orbit. She alleged physical and sexual mistreatment by Combs during her time as his personal assistant. These testimonies, combined with unconfirmed reports of jury tampering tactics reminiscent of Gotti’s playbook, drew parallels to the mob boss metaphor 50 Cent referenced.

Do you think 50 Cent went too far by calling Diddy the “Gay John Gotti”? Or is it just typical hip-hop trolling?
