The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced its nominees for induction in 2021 on Wednesday. Artists and bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination to be eligible for induction.
The full list below:
Mary J. Blige
Kate Bush
Devo
Foo Fighters
The Go-Go’s
Iron Maiden
Jay-Z
Chaka Khan
Carole King
Fela Kuti
LL Cool J
New York Dolls
Rage Against The Machine
Todd Rundgren
Tina Turner
Dionne Warwick
Maybe it’s time to look into changing the name. How about the Music Hall Of Fame instead of Rock and Roll? It’s good that the artists who had the most impact on culture are getting their due. Especially women, Black women, and forces in the world of hip-hop. The outdated name of Rock and Roll no longer feels like it’s the correct fit.
Starting today and running until April 30, 2021, fans can vote online or in-person at the museum itself for musicians they think deserve to be inducted.

The list will be whittled down and the inductees’ names will be announced in May.
A ceremony celebrating the winners is being planned for this fall in Cleveland.
Good luck to all the nominees.
